All of the students went on a day excursion to the Troodos Mountains. The Troodos Mountains are one of two mountain ranges in Cyprus and is located on the south side of the island. We first went up Troodos Square which is the highest point on Mount Olympus and they have a few little shops where you can buy dried fruits and nuts and also winter clothing and sleds. There were also a few little cafe shops and restaurants. We were supposed to go on a hike down the mountain, however, there was a lot more snow then anticipated and not everyone was dressed adeqately for the snow either! I neglected to bring my winter clothing to a mediterranean island as did almost everyone in the group. So instead of hiking in the snow we were free to explore the square for an hour and then to visit a little mountain village called Kakopetria.
Kakopetria was so pretty it was unreal! We were free to explore for 2 hours and my friends and I went to the old village which was all narrow cobble stone roads and had a pretty steap incline as well. And your probably thinking DUH! Its a village in the moutains, of course its going to have an incline. I guess I just wasnt expecting such a large one though. Anyways, there were lots of cute little restaurants and we ate at this one place and the ower was there just by himself to cook and he was so nice to us and the food was fantastic! I had a little ham and cheese sandwich toasted and it was delicious and only four euros! I really want to back there another day when it gets warmer out and maybe explore another mountain village too!
